The first ever Half-Marathon and
10K road race in County Leitrim
will take place in Manorhamilton
on 11th September 2010. The
Half Marathon will start at 12pm
and the 10km at 12:15pm.

This run will be a major annual
event for both serious athletes
as well as casual runners and
walkers.

The main purpose of the run is
to raise funds for the North West
Hospice. The Hospice provides an
invaluableservice for people who
face a life-threatening illnessas
well as vital supports for their
families. Much of their resources
are dependent on voluntary
fundraising.

The North Leitrim Glens Run intends to donate proceeds from the run, after costs, to the North West Hospice. To defray costs and ensure maximum benefit for our chosen charity this year, the Committee is actively seeking substantial sponsorship. If participants wish to fund raise themselves for the North West Hospice they can contact the Hospice directly at 071 914 3317. They may also wish to fund raise for a charity of their choice."

Alongside the main objective of the event, we also plan to raise awareness around the benefits of fitness in relation  to good health. To this end a training programme is being organized throughout North Leitrim to get people motivated and mobilize locals to participate in the run/walk.

This is a over 18 event as it is approved by the Athletic Association of Ireland.
